If you had a dodgy lock on your front door, you’d probably get it fixed rather sharpish.
Or if someone you didn’t trust, found out the password to your computer, or the PIN to your phone, I’m guessing you’d change the password or PIN pretty quickly.
And before Jan 10th 2023, you’ll definitely want to make this change, if your PC still has the Windows 8.1 Operating System on it. And I don’t mean Windows 8, as this has already been discontinued as a supported product. This is specifically about Windows 8.1.
All Operating Systems have a shelf-life, where there comes a point when it’s no longer safe to use. Which is why I highly recommend that you either…
1) Upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
2) Or replace your computer with a new one that comes pre-installed with Windows 11.
And no, you won’t be able to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 11.
Your PC will still function with Windows 8.1 after January 10th 2023, but I wouldn’t recommend it, as your system will no longer be getting the all-important security updates, that keeps your system safe from malicious attacks.
So for your safety, if you have Windows 8.1, DO NOT use the computer for online purchases and online banking after this date.
